MINNEAPOLIS — After a slow slog through the rain on Monday night and early Tuesday, a big storm will bring 1-3 inches of snow to the Red River Valley by Wednesday.
Temperatures will peak overnight and very early Tuesday morning in the mid-50s. There may even be some rumbles of thunder overnight as the warmer air builds in.
Temps will fall all day on Tuesday, bottoming out in the upper 30s by evening. Winds will gust to 40 mph and the metro will stay mostly dry, save some early morning showers.
Temps will stay in the 30s on Wednesday, with stray snow showers and flurries for most. Some higher amounts are expected with more persistent snow showers in the Red River Valley. Expect relatively minor travel impacts.
The metro will see little-to-no sunshine until late Friday or on Saturday.
This will begin a period of mostly below-average temps that will last through next week. Average highs are in the mid-30s and lows are in the mid-to-lower 20s. The metro will be below that, for the most part.
